Trump-Abe Nobel Peace Prizegate

  1. UPDATED FEB 18, 2019 AT 5 P.M.

During a whacky press conference Feb. 15, President Donald Trump used fictitious stats and numerous easy-to-prove anti-immigrant lies, as a basis to declare a national emergency.

With this declaration, Trump can now funnel money from the defense department and build a wall at the border of US and Mexico.

At the press conference, Trump said many bizarre things but one stood out– his Nobel Prize ambitions.

Bragging about the relationship he has built with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Trump revealed Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, had written a letter to nominate him for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Apparently, according to Trump, his unverifiable success with Kim in averting a nuclear confrontation impressed Abe so much that he couldn’t help nominate him for a Nobel Peace Prize.

While it’s true Abe, did in fact, write the nomination letter. It was not at his own free will or original thought, he was strongly nudged by Washington.

There you are. Like most things Trump, there is always a shady twist and nobody is surprised.

It turns out, according to a report by Reuters, posted on rawstory.com, Abe wrote the letter at the request of the Trump administration. Heck, at this rate, Trump should have just written it himself, or ask one of doctors to do it.

I wonder how the Nobel Committee feels about this. Awarding Trump a Nobel Peace Prize after all his unpeaceful rants at his rallies lies, providing comfort to racists, maligning immigrants and the turmoil and uncertainty he has caused the world would turn the Nobel Peace Prize into a fat joke.

And while Trump pretended not to be interested in receiving the award, the fact that he brought it up in a press conference he called to declare a national emergency about building a wall suggests that he is desperate for the award.

The Japanese Prime Minister should have known better than to nominate such an undeserving candidate for the award.

Abe is not the only one who thinks Trump is doing a fine job, Reuters is reporting that Trump, did in fact, not need his Japanese counterpart to nominate him. Two Norwegian right-wing lawmakers, Per-Willy Amundsen, a former Justice Minister in Norway, and  Christian Tybring-Gjedde, a member of the Norwegian Foreign Affairs committee nominated Trump giving his “unconventional diplomatic style” credit for easing the tension in the Korean Peninsula.

The Nobel Peace Prize Award winner is decided by a committee of 5 Norwegians.
