According to Reuters, United States has dropped Burkina Faso from its African Growth & Opportunity Act (AGOA) trade preference program citing deep concerns over “unconstitutional change” in government in the country, the U.S. Trade Representative’s office said Sunday.

AGOA provides sub-Saharan African nations with duty-free access to the United States if they meet certain eligibility requirements, such as eliminating barriers to U.S. trade and investment and making progress toward political pluralism.

 

 

Kenyans in Canada protest the impending deportation of John Mulwa, a chef they describe as a great community member and leader. A petition asking Canada to allow him to stay has gathered almost 3500 signatures.

Supporters describe Mulwa as law abiding and a great contributor to the Kenyan and Canadian community.

Mulwa has lived in Canada since 2014, where he has worked as a chef for several companies including the Canadian military. He founded Ndambukis Food Catering Company which serves African cuisine. And he’s a sponsor of East African Annual BBQ, according to the petition.

Lionel Messi’s Argentina Wins FIFA 2022 World Cup in Qatar

 

 

Lionel Messi cemented his legacy as the Greatest Footballer or All Time (GOAT) when led Argentina to defeat the French juggernaut led by Kylian Mbappe in one of the most thrilling FIFA World Cup matches in history.

After regular time and extra time, the two teams were tied 3-3 in a high scoring game that saw only three player from both sides score. Messi scored two goals for Argentina with Mbappe scored all three for France.

Argentina was the first to score. They took lead through Messi and Angel Di Maria goal, giving Argentina a 2-nil advantage. But France could not be counted out. In the second half, Mbappe scored twice in a 2-minute span equalized for France and starting the ball game anew.

 

 

Messi restored Argentina’s lead in extra time, but Mbappe equalized the score again, completing a hat-trick and sending the game to extra time and then a penalty spot shoot-out.

Argentina won the shootout 4-2, to claim the World Cup and victory in one of the sport’s all-time great games.

Mbappe won the Golden Boot Award, and made history for a single player scoring the highest number of goals in a World Cup final.

Online voters selected her from among this year’s Top 10 CNN Heroes.

Cheboi accepted the award with her mother, who she said “worked really hard to educate us.” At the beginning of her acceptance speech, Cheboi and her mother sang a song onstage that she explained had a special meaning when she was growing up.

Ironically, Breel Embolo who the scorer of the Swiss lone goal was born in Yaounde, Cameroon before moving with his mother to Switzerland, according to the Telegraph, UK. Embolo appeared almost apologetic for scoring the goal, a clear signal of his attachment to his native Cameroon.
