Azimio la Umoja flagbearer Prime Minister Raila Odinga arrives in the US on April 22 for a week-long tour, where he’s expected to hold at least two town hall-style meetings with Kenyans living in the US.

Odinga will hold his first town hall meeting with Kenyans on April 24 in Maryland, near Washington DC, and meet with some US government officials.

The venue of the Maryland town hall is: Camelot by Martins, located at 13901 Central Ave, Upper Marlboro, MD 20774

In California, Odinga is the guest of honor hosted by the NorCal Kenyan Community. He is scheduled to host a second town hall meeting with Kenyans located in California’s Bay Area at:

Karibu Wine Lounge By Wachira, a Kenyan-owned winery located at 1419 Parks St Alameda, Ca, 94501.

According to The Nation: Odinga will be accompanied by governors Wycliffe Oparanya (Kakamega), James Ongwae (Kisii), Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, former Aldai MP Sally Kosgey, Homa Bay Senator Moses Kajwang, and Kathiani MP Robert Mbui.

The inclusion of Karua in the trip signifies her growing clout within the Azimio ranks, especially after Azimio Women leaders endorsed her to be named Odinga’s running mate.

Karua has taken over campaigning for Odinga in the Mt. Kenya region, telling the public he chose to join Odinga in Azimio because he has demonstrated he cares for Kenya and has fought for Kenyans throughout his life.

She also said her second reason for supporting Odinga is his commitment to ending corruption.

Odinga’s trip comes when all eyes are on the presidential candidates to name a running mate. In several Twitter polls conducted by veteran journalist David Makali, Karua and former Vice President Musalia Mudavadi have emerged as the favorites for Azimio and Kenya Kwanza Alliance, headed by Deputy President William Ruto.

The election is scheduled for August 9 this year.
