Donald Trump Concedes-Sort Of-Thanks to Grammar

Trump Teacher Corrects Trump

Teacher Corrects Donald Trump's grammar

Finally, former US President Donald Trump has conceded–sort off– in a double negative worded statement, that might go down in US history as the first grammatical presidential concession.

In a message attributed to Trump’s Save America organization, dated Dec 4, Trump seems to be saying people who believe the election was stolen are stupid.

“Anybody that doesn’t think there wasn’t election fraud in the 2020 presidential election is either very stupid or very corrupt,” said the statement that ran under the headline “Statement By Donald J. Trump, 45th President of the United States of America.

Twitterverse had some fun with the statement.

ABC News Chief Washington Correspondent and author of a Betrayal, a New York Times bestseller that details troubling information inside the Trump administration, tweeted, “he finally conceded.

Others responded in more creative ways.

“No one understands double negatives like me,” said Twitter user Pedro Poeknee, using Trump’s penchant for claiming he is the best at everything.

Amor Omnia Vincit, who describes herself as a Native Texan, Democrat and feminist, used the opportunity to tweet a grade and correct Trump’s grammar. Replying to Jonathan Karl’s tweet, Vincit posted a picture of Trump’s statement with handwritten corrections under a message “A teacher corrected his statement.”

“Donald, NORMALLY, two wrongs don’t make a right, BUT in this case, you are actually correct in your statement,” read a sarcastic handwritten statement on Trump’s announcement. “And yes, I agree you’re 100% very stupid and very corrupt! Please see me about REMEDIAL English 101.”

She signed off with a smiley face.

A double negative uses two nullifying words that give a sentence an opposite meaning. In the case of Trump’s statement, his use of “doesn’t” and “wasn’t” in the same sentence gave his statement the meaning that people who believed there was fraud in the 2020 presidential elections are, in his words, “very stupid” or “very corrupt.”

It’s unclear whether Trump wanted to send a cryptic concession message to his supporters. Still, in line with his obsession that he did not lose the election, rather it was stolen from him, it’s safe to assume this statement was yet another moment in history where Trump has made a self-owning statement.

Trump has continued to push the lie, dubbed “the big lie” that he only lost the election because of massive voter fraud, a fraud that ironically only seemed to have affected the presidential results because, in down-ballot contests, Republicans fared very well.

“So now I suppose he’s not not running in 2024.” BC tweeted.
