In one week, that is. World rugby fans will gather in Las Vegas, NV starting Feb. 28 for the annual USA Sevens Rugby tournament.
This year, defending champions USA are expected to put forward a spirited defense for the title they won in 2018. But the road ahead won’t be easy. USA’s superstar Perry Baker will have to battle through Kenya in their opening match-up. For Kenyan fans, this will not just be a game, it will also be a duel of loyalty.
Who will the Kenyan fans living and working in the US, cheer for?
Kenya or USA?
We will wait and see.
Kenya and USA are both in Pool B together with Argentina and France. USA Vs. Kenya’s first game is schedule to start Friday at 16.50 PM. Sixteen teams are participating in the tournament, including powerhouse, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and the always entertaining Samoa. Fans from all over the world are expected to come and cheer their teams and also share cultural pride.
According to the Kenya Rugby Union Website, Kenya’s Shujaa team will be represented by the following players:
Jacob Ojee, Vincent Onyala, Daniel Taabu, Johnstone Olindi, Brian Wahinya, Bush Mwale, Brian Wandera, Cyprian Kuto, Edmund Anya, Herman Humwa, Charles Owino and Michael Agevi.
