DRAMA AS $2 BILLION JACKPOT POWERBALL RESULTS STILL PENDING, THANKS TO “SECURITY PROTOCOLS”

Powerball 2 Billion

Powerball 2 Billion

After a frenzy of lottery ticket purchasing across the country, there was a hiccup when it came to the drawing on Monday night. Now Powerball players must hold tightly onto their ticket and hope for the winning numbers announcement on Tuesday.

The California Lottery said the delay was caused by a participating lottery needing extra time to complete required security protocols. They posted the following message on their Twitter.

Latest update: There was no winner, again, in Saturday Powerball drawing, increasing the jackpot to $1.9 billion for the the drawing set for Monday, November 7.

The Saturday drawing did not produce a winner pushing the lottery to an all-time high jackpot. Before the Saturday drawing, Americans in all participating States and territories went on a ticket-buying frenzy. There were lines in east stations and liquor stores where patrons lines up to buy multiple tickets, with the attendant dutifully wishing them good luck.

The lack of a winner in the Saturday, brings the streak to a record for 40 without a winner. The last winner was announced in the August 3rd drawing.

The winner can opt to get paid annually over 29 years, or choose cash, approximately $929.1 million, according to the California Lottery Association’s website.

Previous reporting:

Winner of the biggest Powerball in US history, is still unknown. But whoever it is, will have $1.6 billion worth of problems to worry about, if that’s a problem at all. But if the winner opts to take a cash payout, which most winners do, they stand to walk away with a whooping $782 million.

The huge jackpot saw many Americans flocking places where the lottery tickets are sold. Sometimes it takes a while for the winner to be announced because all 45 participating states have to look at their list and determine if there’s a winner.

The winning numbers Saturday night were: 28, 45, 53, 56, 69 and 20.

So far nobody has claimed the grand prize, but there are some states where the winner can claim the prize anonymously.

After Wednesday’s drawing failed to produce a winner, the Powerball jackpot ballooned from $1.2 Billion to a whopping $1.5 billion.

Wednesday’s night drawing winning numbers were 22, 11, 60, 2, 35, and the Powerball is 23. The Power Play was 2X.

The eye-popping amount has attracted a lot of lottery ticket buyers, tired of their day jobs and hoping to become instant millionaires.

Winners can gain a lump sum payout of $745 million or choose an annual payment plan over 29 years. Most winners, however, choose the cash payout.

Anybody, including tourists and undocumented immigrants, can participate in Powerball if they buy tickets in participating jurisdictions. The only thing you need – in case of being a winner – is to have an official identification document issued by your country of origin, according to en.as.com

According to the Powerball website:

You do not have to be a U.S. citizen or U.S. resident to play Powerball. Players from jurisdictions where Powerball tickets are not sold, either in the United States or outside the country, when visiting a selling jurisdiction, can purchase Powerball tickets from a retailer licensed or authorized by the selling jurisdiction if they meet the legal age requirement in the jurisdiction of purchase. Federal and jurisdictional income taxes may apply to any claimed prize money.

Powerball lottery is played in 44 states, including Washington DC, the U.S. territories of Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Residents of Alabama, Alaska, Nevada, Utah, Hawaii, and Mississippi, however, cannot purchase a ticket in their states because their states do not participate.

At $1.5 billion in prize money, the current lottery is the second most lucrative. The biggest jackpot was $1.586 billion, won by 3 ticket holders. One ticket was sold in a 7-Eleven store in Chino Hills, Califonia, and others were sold in Florida and Tennessee.

Drawings take place every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday. The next drawing is Saturday, Nov. 5.
