Movie Director Spike Lee posted a dramatic comparison of the killing of 2 black men in the hands of police by strangulation together with a fictional character, Radio Raheem, who dies in police strangulation in Lee’s movie Do The Right Thing.

The video features Eric Garner killed by chokehold in the hands of fired New York Police Department officer Daniel Pantaleo. In the middle of the chokehold, Garner voiced “I can’t breathe,” a phrase that has now become the rallying call for anti-police brutality protesters all over the world.

On May 26, 2020, George Floyd, another black man repeated the words “I can’t breathe,”  while choking under the knee of Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin that lasted for almost nine minutes.

Floyd was pronounced dead upon reaching the hospital, he is, however, believed to have died at the scene.

Floyd’s killing has sparked a world-wide anti-police and anti-racism protests bringing together people of all races.
